The world is one of my favorite cards in tarot, both for its design and for the meaning behind it. The words “the world” to me contain the totality of our known existence and seem like a promise: Here, you’ve done the work; everything you wanted is yours. The card is like a sigh of relief—the herald of the coming reward for a job well done.
But today’s card is reversed. What then?
The Reading
Reversed, the world indicates a feeling of stuckness. There is something you long to do, see, achieve but for some reason you feel you can’t. Do you feel you don’t deserve to? Do you feel you don’t know enough yet? Do you suspect your big wish is just a fantasy and not at all within the realm of possibility?
The world reversed is, for me, a nudge to remember that core purpose or that dream that I may have discarded because I didn’t think I could take it on. But, you know what? We can do The Thing.
We can do The Thing. Does that terrify you? Thrill you?
Take this opportunity to dream big, then bring your dream down to earth. Define what you want. (Start with answering, What feels fun to me?) Consider what may be holding you back. Make a list of actionable next steps. Make the first step something that feels like play. And then take that first step.
I am literally doing this very thing—and I wish I could share the details with you! But, I recommend that, like me, you keep your tender schemes under a cloak of invisibility lest someone’s well-meaning critique destroy them. There is a time to gather feedback, but the early days aren’t it.
Let’s mark this week on the calendar and three months from now revisit and, perhaps, bring our schemes out into the light ✨
